The Joys of Homeownership:
Remodeling the Kitchen

Here's the kitchen before all the work started. Note the crappy 1970s vintage applicances

First step: remove the old wood tiles (there was some serious water damage). Here you can see the discovery of the vintage linoleum below the particle board.

Here's a better look at that linoleum. If it had been in better shape, I would've left it!

The new countertop.

One of the new cabinets. They're much nicer than the old cheesy 1980s laminate ones.

Here's a vast improvement! No more dark brown '70s fridge for me!

Another huge improvement. And, no, it's not stainless. It's a "silver mist" finish.

Here's the cabinets and countertop after installation.

Another view of the cabinets.

...add some nice new pulls to those cabinets...

...put down a new floor over the ragged linoleum (not an easy task considering none of my walls are at right angles to eachother)..

..some spiffy new paint...and it's almost done!

Just a few more things to do (attach the last few pulls, paint the trim, etc.) and it'll be all done!

This is the "after" shot you can compare with the first "before" image!
